Robert A. Prinzi, MD
Biography
Robert A. Prinzi, MD, brings a wealth of expertise as a board-certified medical retina specialist to South Carolina Retina Institute. Raised in Jamestown, New York, Dr. Prinzi’s journey in medicine began at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, for his undergraduate studies. He continued his academic pursuit at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, New York, where he earned his medical degree and gained induction into the esteemed Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
Following his passion for ophthalmology, Dr. Prinzi completed his internship and residency at Henry Ford Hospital within the Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan. Building on this foundation, he further honed his skills through a medical retina fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Practicing in the Grand Strand area since 2017, Dr. Prinzi has been dedicated to serving patients and providing professional medical retina services. Specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular diseases, and other complex retinal disorders, he is known for his commitment to patient care. Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists, he stays at the forefront of his field, employing state-of-the-art diagnostic technologies and innovative treatment modalities to optimize visual outcomes for his patients.
With a compassionate and patient-centered approach, Dr. Prinzi tailors expert care to meet the unique needs of each individual, aiming to preserve and enhance their vision for a better quality of life. He looks forward to continuing to provide professional medical retinal services for many years to come. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He also enjoys golf, reading, and is an avid fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
