Nicholas D. Marchase, MD

Dr. Nicholas D. Marchase, MD is the founder and owner of the South Carolina Retina Institute and an experienced medical eye specialist offering leading-edge treatment and care of the retina, macula, and vitreous of the eyes.

After a prestigious education at Vanderbilt University, which included being placed on the Dean’s List, Dr. Marchase received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, followed by an internship at Baptist Health System. He went on to complete his residency on Long Island, N.Y. at Nassau University Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident. While undertaking one of the most demanding surgical fellowships in the world for diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous with Dr. Steve Charles, the most experienced retina surgeon in history, at the renowned Charles Retina Institute and the University of Tennessee in Memphis – he was additionally honored with being appointed as Team Ophthalmologist for NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies franchise.

Dr. Marchase’s ophthalmology specialty includes the treatment and surgery of diseases and disorders affecting the back of the eye as well as injuries or trauma to the eye.

Surgeries performed by Dr. Marchase may be scheduled at South Carolina Retina Institute, the Surgery Center of Conway, or at the Grande Dunes Surgery Center – an accredited Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Credentialed at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital to offer eyecare services, Dr. Marchase provides specialized ophthalmologic exams, treatment, and surgery for diseases of the retina and vitreous to direct and referred patients.
